Retirement village law changes for residents (Tues 25 Aug)

Changes to retirement village laws and regulations will begin on 1 September 2026.

What the sessions cover

The changes will be introduced in stages to give residents and village operators time to prepare.

The free information sessions for village residents will cover:

• when the new retirement village changes will happen and the timeframes for each stage; and
• what residents need to know and do to prepare.

You will also have a chance to ask questions and get more information.

Privacy collection notice for events

The personal information you provide through this form will be used by the Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety (LGIRS) to:

• record and manage attendance at an event
• review event with attendees

We will not be providing this information to anyone outside our organisation.  

We will not disclose personal information about you to anybody else, unless you have given consent, or we are authorised or required to do so by law. Providing us with the requested information is voluntary.  If you choose not to provide us with it we may not be able to accommodate you at the event.
