Retirement village reforms: Capital items and modifications

Overview

Consumer Protection is consulting on regulations to support changes introduced by the Retirement Villages Amendment Act 2024 (WA) to the Retirement Villages Act 1992 (WA) (the Act). Most of the changes made to the Act will come into operation when regulations to support implementation of these changes are ready.

The new regulations are expected to be in place in the second half of 2025. Consumer Protection is currently consulting on different aspects of the regulations and we are using short surveys to seek feedback from residents in retirement villages on various issues over the next 5 months.
