Retirement village law changes regional interest

Overview

Retirement villages law changes starting soon. 

New regulations supporting changes to the Retirement Villages Act 1992 (WA) take effect from 1 September 2026. 

The reforms will be introduced in stages, giving operators and residents time to understand the changes and prepare for the new requirements.

Information sessions have been organised for Perth and we would like to know if there is interest in regional centres.

What the information sessions will cover

Village operators and managers sessions will:
•    outline the staged approach to implementation of the reforms and associated timeframes for each stage
•    discuss what operators and managers need to do to prepare for each stage

Village residents sessions will cover:
•    when the new retirement village changes will happen and the timeframes for each stage; and
•    what residents need to know and do to prepare.
