Fire systems installation review: industry survey
Overview
Building and Energy is reviewing the regulation of certain fire systems installation in Class 2 to 9 buildings in Western Australia. Class 2 to 9 buildings include apartments, public buildings, hotels and commercial and industrial buildings. This review is based on the national Building Confidence Report.
The survey seeks information from people who have worked in constructing, installing, testing or maintaining fire systems in Class 2 to 9 buildings. This includes:
- fire-fighting water services (fire sprinkler, hydrant and hose reels and pumps and tanks for those systems);
- passive fire construction and/or installation (construction or installation of fire rated doors, walls, ceilings, firestopping of all service and other penetrations through walls, floors and ceilings);
- fire detection and alarm systems with a fire indicator panel; and
- emergency lighting and illuminated emergency exit signs.
