Fire systems installation review: a survey for commercial building surveyors
Overview
Building and Energy is reviewing the regulation of certain fire systems installation in Class 2 to 9 buildings in Western Australia. Class 2 to 9 buildings include apartments, public buildings, hotels and commercial and industrial buildings. This review is based on the national Building Confidence Report.
This survey seeks information from building surveyors who have worked with installation of fire systems. We are interested in recently completed (from 2020-2025) Class 2 to 9 buildings you have inspected as part of end-of-project certification, and contain the following fire systems:
- water based fire systems (sprinklers, hydrants, hose reels);
- passive fire installation and/or construction (e.g. fire doors, penetration seals, walls and/or ceilings);
- fire detection and alarm systems with a fire indicator panel;
- smoke-and-heat vent systems (excluding air handling); and
- emergency lighting and illuminated emergency exit signs.
This survey forms part of the research phase of the regulatory 'Review of Regulation of Fire System Installers in Western Australia'.
Depending on the number of examples and the details you provide, this survey may take up to 30 minutes to complete.
